An Ansible engineer is a systems administrator who helps organizations maintain and manage their networks, applications, and system configurations. As an Ansible engineer, the primary responsibility is to ensure that all elements of the IT infrastructure are running properly by writing playbooks – automated scripts written in YAML – which outline process steps for managing various components of the system. This includes configuring hardware such as servers or storage devices, installing software updates on different hosts/servers, and testing new implementations before they go live into production environments. In addition to writing Ansible playbooks, an Ansible engineer also manages inventory files which describe how individual pieces of IT infrastructure should interact with each other. They will use these inventories to write roles within tasks that can be used across multiple projects and systems. These roles allow them to quickly deploy changes without having to manually reconfigure specific parts of their network every time there’s a change needed throughout an organizations entire IT infrastructure. An Ansible Engineer must have strong knowledge in scripting languages like Python & Bash scripting as well as Linux administration skills such as creating users/groups/sudoers accounts & managing services & packages installations for monitoring purposes amongst others; plus experience working with version control solutions (Git) & CI tools (such as Jenkins) is highly desirable too! Finally, it’s important for them to stay up-to-date with industry trends so they can anticipate potential issues when deploying changes in production environments using their Playbooks/Roles etc..
