Volunteering is a great way for ceramic artists to not only support their community but also to give back some of the knowledge and skills they’ve learned while creating amazing pieces. Here are a few ways a ceramic artist can volunteer: 1. Teaching Pottery Classes - Ceramic artists have unique skills that can be shared with others who are unfamiliar with clay or pottery. Volunteering at local art centers, libraries or schools as an instructor can help people learn and understand ceramics in a safe environment. 2. Becoming an Artist-in-Residence – Ceramicists may be able to find positions in which they would serve as an Artist-in-Residence either in public schools, colleges and universities or museums, providing educational hands on instruction to students who may otherwise not have access to such learning experiences due to limited resources or lack of motivation from the school district itself. 3 Donating Artwork – Creating unique pieces for nonprofit organizations helps them generate money through auctioning off the artwork at fund raising events allowing them to reach donation goals easily while giving your work much needed exposure too! You could even create specific commissions whereby each one sold will benefit a certain organization or cause specific you feel passionate about. The possibilities are endless! 4 Repurposing Broken Pieces/Creating Found Object Projects – Instead of throwing away damaged/broken created pieces why not reuse those objects by designing different items? Perhaps transforming broken coffee cups into planters, dishes into jewelry boxes..etc Using available discarded objects found around your community allows you provide repurposed beauties for others!
