What level of Experience & Qualifications are required to be a Dietician?
1. Completion of a National Accreditation Board for Nutrition and Dietetics approved undergraduate or postgraduate program in dietetics/nutrition, including food science, athletic nutrition, biochemistry and physiology 2. Passing the NBND Dietetic Registration Exam (DTR) 3. Obtaining state licensure or registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) 4. Obtaining professional membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 5. Continuing Education – possesses knowledge on current health topics from various nutrition viewpoint by participating in seminars or continuing education courses 6. Expertise in different dietary needs such as weight gain/loss management, chronic diseases management etc.. 7. Experience offering counseling to clients on proper nutritional habits and diets necessary to support overall wellness goals8 8. Excellent communication skills which allow them to explain difficult concepts to their clients easily 9 . Knowledgeable about food safety guidelines and safe use of kitchen tools that are used for preparation of meals 10 . Proven experience developing meal plans for diverse populations under medical supervision when required 11 . Ability to multitask between administrative duties such as meal planning documentation ,creating dietary information material using software technology available at clinic level
